This past week I was able to meet some cool kids from across the world, and finally meet my host family!
The first exciting part of my week was a surprise visit from some students from Australia! A group of students studying Chinese from a boarding school in Brisbane were on a trip to China, and they came to Beijing 80 for a few days.
They sat in on our classes and got a chance to see what Chinese high school is like. It was really fun to meet people from a new place- and share what Beijing 80 means to us! On their last day here they played a basketball game against the team from our school. China won, but everyone still had a lot of fun.
Finally- one of the best parts of my trip so far was meeting my host family! I will be spending weekends and holiday breaks with them. I have a 12 year old host sister who goes to the middle school at Beijing 80, and also a 3 year old sister!
It was so much fun getting to spend time with them, get to know them, and practice my Chinese! I went with them to visit the Forbidden City. This was such a cool experience.
This was the imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty all the way to the Qing Dynasty (1420-1912). It was home of emperors, and also super crucial to the Chinese government! It was the center of all major ceremonies and politics.Β
Now we have a week off of school for National Day! I will be traveling with my host family and spending a lot of quality time with them. Can’t wait!
glad youβre having fun, lots of love!!!
